spotting…?

2008 March 21

Well it’s 2:30am. I woke up about 30 min. ago to go pee… and notice pink.

I’m trying not to freak out, but after what happened at Christmas, I can’t help but cry and be worried.

Someone please tell me that it’s totally normal and I don’t need to worry…

I did read that spotting in early pregnancy occurs more with multiples…. that made me smile a bit.

I wish it wasn’t a holiday today…. :( ’cause then I could go see my doc.

My sister had spotting early in her pregnancy and everything turned out just fine–her baby is now 9 years old. Hope everything is okay w/yours.

Erin, I bled and bled and bled throughout my first trimester. I think I have the crankiest cervix in the history of womanhood!

Make sure your doctor checks your progesterone levels right away, too. Because we only have one ovary, our bodies might not produce enough to help the pregnancy along. I had to do icky vaginal suppositories for the 1st trimester, but they worked.

Don’t cry, okay?!? Your body needs encouragement & positive thoughts more than ever!

thanks Kriss. I’ll make sure he does a progesterone test as well. I never thought about one ovary = less progesterone. Good idea! I don’t care WHAT I have to shove up my vajayjay to have this baby stick!! ;)

I’m trying to stay positive. And I’m just eating like a horse ’cause I’m sooooo hungry. It won’t stop. LOL

I agree with Kriss! I had to do the suppositories too! I would check that right away. Your doc doesn’t sound too kind/friendly, wonder if you could get a new doc? He seems like he won’t budge on anything. Anyway, I hope everything turns out ok, in fact, it will turn out ok!!!

Just keep thinking happy thoughts. I have heard that is actually pretty normal to have some light pinkie discharge. Stay positive and keep hope. I’m sure you are fine. My thoughts are with you.

I am with you with the whole crying thing. I haven’t had any bleeding, but I have been having nasty cramps every now and again. They only last for a few seconds, but they are enough to make me think that everything is about to go horribly wrong. I did have some brown spotting last Saturday, and was informed that this was quite normal. Bleeding throughout the first Tri is also normal I have been told. It does nothing to take away the fear that something is wrong though. I know exactly how you feel right now, and wish I could just hide under a duvet cover for the next 8 weeks. You can get Progesterone cream from the Chemists (drugstore) I think… Give it a go, It can’t hurt. I am also taking 2 weeks off work. I know pregnancy isn’t an illness, but the stresses of my job is something i don’t need right now.

As for the food.. I am glad it’s not just me. I have been so ravenous the past few days, and actually ate Kebab, Garlic bread with cheese, spicy wedges and onion rings the other night. And i still had room for a Creme Egg!

I am here for you if you need a chat. Perhaps we can support each other through this, and in November, have our bouncing babies in our arms and laugh at all this worry.

    Erin,

First, I just want to say that crying is a normal release … I always feel better after a good cry, nice, calm, and the baby will feel this, too … I know you know all of this stuff … So …

ERIN, I believe that most woman DO spot, especially in the first trimester … I did … my sister did, and our kids are just FINE… It may be something about the implantation, and the creation of the placenta … I do know that there’s blood, a lot of blood involved with that …

By the way, my (older) sister has four … two boys, and two girls … All of her “pregs” were strange … She even bled, with her last one, the entire nine-months …

Take good care of yourself, dear … *prayers*

HI – so many women spot and have healthy babies. I am thinking good thoughts for you, make sure you do the same!!!

However, if you really want to make sure… (and this is your call, a personal decision, one that you and your partner need to make)… regardless of the holiday, I would call your dr – someone should be on call – if not, I would think about going to the ER to be checked (and maybe a new dr)… because of what happened to me with my first pregnancy, I always want peace of mind so I see the dr… good luck!

I had that every few days for the first 11 weeks. It was so stressful, depressing and annoying!! But then it magically cleared up and everything has been completely fine and healthy. The doctor said that might just be “so called normal” for me. What I learned is that it’s pretty normal for almost everyone. For some reason the books don’t characterize it that way. Just one of the many reasons I’ve concluded the books suck!! :)
