I know I’ve been MIA for a while. But it’s for a really good reason, I promise.
For one, I’ve been busy unpacking in our new house (which I am still very much in love with!). Second, Thor is teething and growing like a weed. He’s 12 weeks old now and wearing size 6month clothes!
And the last (and most fun) reason, is that I’ve started my own business and I’ve been working hard to get the website up and running. What is it, you ask? Well I make custom cards – birth/adoption announcements, party invitations, wedding invites/announcements, and pretty much anything you can think of. If I don’t have a sample of what you want on the site, I can still make it!
Anyways, here is the site in case you’re interested in seeing what I’ve been up to: EJ Designs
Better get back to being a mommy now!
I also made a group on facebook with the same name
*hint hint*
Well, I’m almost completley unpacked in our new house. And I LOVE IT here! I finally have my own dishwasher, washer, and dryer. It’s like I’m in heaven. And you can see the view I have from my livingroom window (above).
Thor had his 2 month shots yesterday and screamed so hard that he burst a vein under his eye…poor lil’ dude. He’s now weighing in at 12lbs 4oz.
I bought him a Fisher Price gym – it only took him till today to figure out when he hits the toys it plays music. He loves playing with it now!
Well, I’m still working on getting settled into the new house, but I’ll hopefully be able to get online more often and brag update on Thor.
Well my baby boy has his very first cold. Poor little dude was up all night with a plugged nose, cough, and low grade fever. I finally have him sleeping in his swing.
That was really the last thing I needed this week….we’re moving on Saturday, so I’m busy trying to finish packing and now have had to come to a screeching halt to be Dr. Mommy. *sigh*

Thor, 5 weeks old
I haven’t been neglecting you, dear readers. I’ve just been swamped with Christmas, a 4 yr old and a new baby… it’s been hectic.
Oh… and we’re moving. Yup. Finally escaping the inlaws (they live next door righgt now).
We’re not leaving town…just moving across town. In a little over 2 weeks. I’m very excited. We’re getting a house…with a giant yard. Hooray!
baby is good…. i’ll update later.
….if it’s not one thing, it’s another. I honestly never thought motherhood would be this hard. No…wait. I knew it would be hard, challenging…but I didn’t think FEEDING my baby would be so difficult.
I met with the lactation consultant…things were good for a few days, and then my milk STOPPED. Period. No more. And this conveniently happened in the middle of the night – and me with no formula in the house as back up. My poor little man was screaming bloody murder when DH got home at 7am from work. I immediatley sent him to the store for a can of formula.
I called the lactation consultant again and told her what was going on…she told me to go see my doctor and get Domperidone. One of the side effects is an increase in lactation. So…I went and got it today and it already seems to be making a bit of difference. So for now (until my milk is back up to where it needs to be), I’m pumping and bottle feeding as much breastmilk as possible and then supplementing with formula.
Could his baby acne be connected with drinking formula? His skin seems to have broken out more since being on it.
*sigh* I wish these things could be easier.
Well I feel like a mean mommy today. My poor guy has basically been screaming for 2 days… then it clicked. That’s how long he’s been breastfeeding. So I put him in his swing (screaming) and pumped… and gave it to him via bottle. He’s so happy now. Ugh. I guess what was more convenient for me was just making him more miserable!
I’m working on defrosting some of my frozen milk now, and going to start back with my pumping. Hopefully he’ll continue to be happy with that.
EDIT: WOW! Thor is so happy that he’s sleeping in his crib! (he hates it in there) I guess the solution really was the bottle. I think he gulps too much air while nursing…and with the drop-ins bottles he doesn’t.
less air = less tummy pain = happy baby = happy mommy
Well, I have to say the nipple shield is a great invention. We’ve been breastfeeding for 24 hours now…no bottle. NO PUMPING… YAY! ![]()
He fights it at first, until he gets a bit and then he’s on until he totally passes out… LOL

DRINK TILL YOU PASS OUT!!
Can you believe it? ‘Cause I sure can’t. My baby is 2 weeks old today. I never even thought I’d get pregnant, let along make it to the point of actually having a real, live, healthy baby all to myself.
So he had his first physical yesterday – doctor says his jaundice is all gone and he doesn’t have downs syndrome, or spina bifida [sp?] (two things they check for at the first visit). And then he got weighed. Here’s his progression so far:
Birth: 6lbs 15oz
Leaving Hospital (2 days later): 6lbs 6oz
Yesterday (11 days being home): 7lbs 9oz
BIG BOY! YAY!
He had his hearing test this morning (I have sever hearing loss, so he had to be tested), and although he has “adequate hearing for speech and development” his right ear scored twice as high as his left ear. Which is interesting…because my right ear is better than my left also. He has to be tested again when he’s 3 years old….unless I suspect and issue before then.
I have a lactation consultant coming over today to talk to me about pumping and also to see if we can get my little guy to stop refusing to breastfeed. Oh… and I’m going to mention the PINK milk I pumped this afternoon. hmmm…. I see no bleeding. So it’s a little weird. Ah well.
